Death: June 14, 2012.

Son, brother, friend, father, husband…soldier, just a few words to try to introduce such an indescribable human being to you. My love, Sgt. Hector L Ortiz, Jr was born November 25, 1978 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ…our Thanksgiving turkey baby. Being also raised in Camden he loved playing baseball, going to the lake, and making people laugh…among a number of other hobbies. Within that time, before he left for the Army, he accumulated lots of lifelong friends, wisdom and experience, a wife and kids, and claimed a spot in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to know him and his incredible loyalty.

A true soldier at heart, he would dress in army/camo attire and never backed down for what he believed in. He was as funny as he was handsome, which is very much! We all have funny stories we can tell of our times with him, like that time at Sesame place. We could write books of Pito’s influence in our lives. All I know is, though he was here for a short time, I am grateful that God allowed us to have him for the 33 years that He did. That son, brother, friend, father, husband…soldier, made a difference everywhere and anywhere he went.

Our hearts hold the impressions he made on them. God, would you tell him that we send up to heaven an infinite number of kisses and an eternal number of hugs and that we love, love, love him and miss him forever and ever and for always! So to my beautiful, lovely, irreplaceable Sgt. Hector L Ortiz…I’m glad you came.
