Honor the Fallen
On August 22 and 23, 2009, a team of 24 dedicated runners will run from Cape May, NJ, to Holmdel, NJ. Each mile will be run for a New Jersey Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, or Marine killed in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. For two days, team members will mark each mile with an American flag and sign card in an apolitical reflection of remembrance of each service member. The runners will be comprised of active duty and reserve Airmen and Soldiers from McGuire Air Force Base and Ft Dix, NJ.

Ok all, finally got a chance to type in some words on the site. I really appreciate Matt and the folks at PICS.com for making this site. Its really humbling to see…
Anyway feel free to post up your thoughts on this blog. Ill be posting updates and stuff like that as I get them. I really want to thank the Gold Star Moms for opening my eyes to the fallen heroes. My daddy once told me that I needed to find a cause in life and run with it. Well this is it…to recognize the Gold Star Moms and their sons or daughters.
So please try and spread the word on the run. Its not about the press, the publicity, or the attention, its about recognizing the fallen heroes. If it werent for them, we wouldnt be here today.

I want to thank MSgt Beason and everyone involved from his staff, to the runners, the volunteers and of course the families of our “American Hero’s”. I can speak for my family in saying that our loss of CPL Koch is devastating and painful beyond compare. We have been able to carry on because of his great dedication and “Honor Above All” attitude that carried him through his life. We now try to bring awareness to others of his life and courage while we help veterans and their organizations in any way we can. I look forward to being involved in the run to help that awareness get out to the public. I would think all the family’s would agreed. “Freedom isn’t Free” and our soldiers, airmen, sailors and others paid the ulitimate price, so the lest we can do is honor them with everything we have left! AIRBORNE - ALL THE WAY!

I want to again MSGT Beason and his staff for letting me help with the event to honor our lost American Hero’s of New Jersey. I want to also thank Jim Gearhart and his staff at NJ101.5 for letting me on the radio to alert the public to the Run for the Fallen. I must admit that I was not nervous but I did choke up some as I thought of all the fallen, all the families, all the friends and people that I was talking for. It was very humbling experience as I could just see our fallen troops in my mind as I spoke. I hope I was able to get the message out clearly and that it connected with the general public too. This is so important to the families that our combined thoughts and thanks to MSGT Beason and the runners can never be enough.
Thank you and regards, Bill Koch

I have met few military or civilian Americans in my life who make such a heartfelt effort, every day, to remember each and every military member, family member, and friend of our fallen heros. Thank you for your inspiration and hope Bubba. If you are not familiar with the run or The Gold Star Moms, please take the time to educate yourself; you will not be wasting time.

I was there for the opening shot in this war. I was sitting in the National Military Command Center in the Pentagon when American Flight 77 slammed into the building. It is a great honor to be asked by Bubba to run in this event. My family and I spent a total of 3 tours/9 years stationed at McGuire AFB and my oldest daughter is a native of New Jersey and graduate of Northern Burlington County H.S. There is evil in this world and these young Americans stood on the ramparts of this Nation when others would not. To the families, “Thank You.”

Freedom isn’t Free. Our sons and daughters paid the ultimate sacrifice and it means so much to have people honor and remember them. This tribute is so special. I want to THANK Bubba for all he has done to honor our fallen heroes. As Terry Rossi from PICS indicated, the day Bubba came into the lives of the NJ Gold Star Moms, our lives became so blessed. Bubba is a special person and I’m so proud to know him.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I am proud to be Bubba’s Mother-in-Law. He has done an awesome job getting this event organized. What a sacrifice these men, women and their families have made so that we can live in a free country. I cannot run but I will be there keeping my grandchildren so that My daughter can support the runners, the Gold Star Moms and the families of all who are involved with this run.

What a wonderful way to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. It is with great pride that I will stand with my family at the mile dedicated to my beloved nephew Chris Duffy and cheer on these deicated men and women. It is only through the support of people such as this that we the families left behind can move forward. Thank you for much.

Everyday, I am thankful that MSgt Bubba Beason is the First Sergeant of my Squadron. He has the right focus, takes care of my Airmen, gives me good advice and is a shining example of a great leader. We are very lucky to have him in the Air Force. He’s one of those people that does things “just because” it’s the right thing to do. He never looks for recognition or attention. He has a passion and love for this country that exudes from his actions daily. He found a cause that he’s passionate about and I am honored that he asked me to be one of the 24 runners. To all the families who have lost loved ones…I am proud to be running for you.

My sons and I were out watching the runners in the Stafford and Barnegat areas just over an hour ago. We were so touched by the the servicemen and women involved as well as the members of the Warriors Watch Riders organization that we drove up further after the first time we saw them just to see them again. We are the thankful ones for your dedication. Our hearts go out to all of you with family members who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Words are not enough but Thank You so much!

I just wanted to thank all of the runners for letting me take part of this event by having them come back to my house yesterday. We are so thankfull to them and all of their familys for not only running for such a worthy cause, but protecting our country and our freedom every day. I was very impressed by everyone yesterday and especialy their familys that support them every step of the way. It struck me that their is a very special bond between all of you that goes beyond working together. Thank you again to the gold star mothers that have sacrificed so much that I can not even begin to imagine the extent of their loss being a mother myself. I would like to do something every year in my home weather it is for the mothers or for the troups abroad it fed my soul more then you can imagine. So thank you again especialy to Suzette and Bubba and all of the men and women that have served and are still serving this country. You are allways welcome to my home any time and I would love to get to know you and your familys better. Stay safe and God Bless you, Judy Rutter

Congratulations and all the respect in the world to MSGT Bubba Beason, all the runners, the accompanying Warrior Watch Motorcyclists and State Troopers that provided a safe runway for the runners. We had the honor of accompanying the procession from Toms River to the PNC Art Center with the CPL Steven R. Koch Honor Truck. I can attest to the great effort all the runners performed and it was very special to us to be involved that way. I thank MSGT Beason and his runners for their determination to accomplish what they set out to do. They honored all the “Fallen Hero’s” along New Jersey roadways and raised funds for the Gold Star Mother Memorial. Thank you again and support the troops!

MSGT Bubba Beason continued to honor our country’s fallen hero’s with his run of a mile for SSGT Andrew Lobosco on Sunday September 6th at mile marker 134. Hearing the MSGT Beason wanted to honor SSGT Lobosco who was killed on 8-22-09, we asked to help honor him and rode behind MSGT Beason with our “CPL Koch Honor Truck” to give him a clear and safe path protection as he ran the mile and honored Lobosco with a mile marker and American Flag.
The “Fallen Hero’s” families are truly blessed to have MSGT Beason, all the runners and their families give their time, great effort and true passion to honor our sons and daughters. We could never thank them enough. God Bless our troops and the people who honor them!
