Spc. Carlos M. Gonzalez of Middletown, New York graduated from Minisink Valley High School in 2001, and was a member of the ROTC during all four years of high school. After graduation, he studied at Military College in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania focusing on communications. He is survived by his wife, Kristina, his daughter, and his parents and a brother Alex among others. He was killed when a mortar round detonated in Tikrit, Iraq at age 22. Also killed was Sgt. Amanda N. Pinson.
