Why do we ask for donations?Of necessity we find it necessary to engage in limited "fundraising" because there are expenses incurred in providing support for our Run Team over the three days. Although we try to get as many services and provisions donated as we can there are some things such as the shirts for the runners and families, the challenge coins, hotel rooms for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night stops etc. that we have to purchase.
For this year (2012) we intend to hold a Beef and Beer event but we will still be dependent on donations and sponsors to ensure that we are able to cover our expenses. After the Run has finished and all expenses have been paid the balance of any remaining funds will be donated to organizations whose goal is to provide support and assistance to those who are trying to deal with the consequences of the wars. All decisions on recipients will be made by our Board of Trustees on an annual basis.. But.....please remember that our primary goal is as a support organization for the Team of active duty military members who have dedicated themselves to run 158 miles in honor of their fallen comrades.
